The market was a great success! Led by John Gray the team consisted of a veritable who's who of the club!
James Hamilton, John Hawkins, Tim McGillicuddy, Mark Hillis, Paul Murray, Rick (Santa) Priest, David Pyke, Jeremy Reithmuller, James Ross, Doug Sutton, Darren Wallace, Michael Georgiou and Ken Taylor.
These were ably assisted by Peter Crozier, Michael Knight, John Ferguson, Peter Green, David Foster, Geoff Breust, James Hamilton, Travis Downey, Nellie Shepherd, Peter MacKinnon John Egan and Willis.
It was a top day of mateship as well as being very successful financially. Although all the figures weren't in by today, we took somewhere around $3100. $931 of that was on the gate, and a further $531 came from the Ham Wheel. We had some TV ads running and also used social media. This on a weekend when there were many competing professional markets also running. Well done team!!
Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines.
Expect the unexpected when you come to Wollundry. Today we were greeted with a complete Hang Glider which took up more than a corner of the room. Our own Darren Wallace was about to tell us how to leap off a perfectly good mountain top and soar with the eagles. To us turkeys that didn't seem to be such a good idea. But a few lessons on aerodynamics and such had us less tense about the whole affair. He did point out it was safe(relatively). Relative to what was the question.
Darren is a keen aviator and has flown almost everything from hang gliders, gliders, fixed wing powered and remote control aircraft as well. He was thanked by Tim McMullen. The talk once again proved that the most interesting people are often found sitting next to us at dinner on a Tuesday!
Sergeant.
Today Peter Clucas was in uniform and proceded to deny Travis with any talent but luck for a golf shot that ricocheted more than five times before it scored at the Christmas party. Smithy was pilloried for the lifestyle incurred as he had his Mooney serviced, and John Hawkins was accused of horse trading at a furniture auction. Fergs suffered because of his wife Judy's well deserved award, and those who like himself had not achieved a PHF had to dig in. There was also a suggestion that John Egan's camera was too good!!
Geoff Hamilton is a pretty good golfer, and Peter calculated that it will cost him $110 per shot when we include fuel, time and landing fees!! Also he has taken this Rotary thing a bit far. He's now a fully qualified helicopter pilot!!
