Our guest speaker was our own Peter Clucas, who told us a great story of the trip to Birdsville which he undertook with quite a few club members.
The highlights for him were of course the races (horses, what horses?) and the list of fatalities he found in BrokenHill. The incidents were listed as to the cause of death and then some were just accidents!
The famous Boxing Tent at Birdsville, Fred Brophys, puts on great entertainment
Any one can have a go and a lot do!!
The description of the Birdsville Races as "schoolies for oldie" is very neat!
There is a lot to see and do out there, and air travel seems to be the way to go.
They flew from Wagga to Birdsville via Marree, Broken Hill and William Creek.
The Marree Man is still prominent and the greenies are prosecuting the author for "disturbing native grasses "!!
They stopped at the Dig Tree on Father's Day, then came home via the Coomera Camel Farm, Cobar, then Wagga.
All in all they flew 1668 nautical mile, with ten aircraft, and 28 persons..12 0f whom were Wollundry members.
The bookies were the winners today. Thank you to our club bookies Pykie and Ken Taylor for conducting our Melbourne Cup Sweeps. The winners will be lining up for their winnings next week. Hopefully Pykie will return!! Thank you to our guest speaker Peter Clucas who step in at short notice to give us a small presentation on the Wagga Aero Club's trip to the Birdsville Races. Some great photos and stories were told. The boys certainly survived the trip and have many good memories. What happens on camp stays on camp!

Don't forget Men's Health Education Rural Van is coming to Wagga on 14th & 15th November from District 9670. John Egan is looking for members to man the van on those two special days. The van will be stationed at Bunnings on these days. Why not come out for a health check! It only takes a few minutes.
We also wish Laurie Blowes a quick recovery from his recent shoulder operation.
There are a few emails coming out this week just letting you know of events you may wish to participate in.

Last Monday 31st October 2017, the 100th anniversary of the last Light Horse charge at Beersheba featured by the ABC Regional Radio created a lot of interest. The interview they did with me and my cousin that they posted to Facebook about my Grandfather, Roy James Dunk's involvement has had over 2,000 hits.
Also of interest this week to members has been the wedding of Graham Burmeister' son Max to Maggie at a very lavish ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam on Friday 3rd Nov. Max is the first child borne to a serving member of Wollundry after it was chartered. There are some photos of the event being published in the Bulletin this week.
Today's meeting was relatively quiet as many members were trying their lick at a few courses around the traps. David and Ken were in the ring, and sold sweeps at $5 and $10. Someone somewhere was bound to be lucky.
However we had a visit from Jack Hillis,, Mark's son, who was lucky enough to win a great prize from the Men's Shed...courtesy of Rick. A packet of string beans.
Men's Health
John Egan and David Byfield have a team of volunteers to man the MHERV at Bunnings, but more are very welcome. We will be the face of Rotary in Wagga. The idea of the van is to encourage men to come in for a blood and urine test which will give some basic indicators that might require referral to their GP.
Sergeant for today was Mark Hillis.
He cleverly extracted many contributions for misdemeanours real and imaginary, even with links to the little round Kim!!
Domestic Violence
Further to our great support for the initiative of our member and Mayor Greg Conkey, we are invited to the
Wagga Wagga Community March Against Domestic Violence, Thursday 9 November 2017

Burmo is overseas celebrating his son's wedding with a few old mates, as well as JG and Benny!!
Max Burmeister married the beautiful Maggie in a Vietnamese ceremony, surrounded by their family and special Australian friends.
Max was the first baby born to a member of Wollundry Rotary!!
Its with some sadness that we announce the death of a Rotarian who is a personal friend of many in our club. Graham Booth , from Henty , passed away this morning (Wednesday).
He was actvely involved with Youth Exchange for many years and served on that committee with John Gray and Ken Cook
