Presidents Report September 12
Wow! What a top meeting! The President went missing for a while but eventually got back on track. Thank you to all the members who purchased the jewellery from Dr Luc's wife last week. The proceeds will certainly go to a great project in the Congo.

Gears & Beer Festival is not far away so please place your name on the roster.
Thank you to the members who volunteered to help at the Daily Advertiser BBQ on Friday 13th October 2017.
The Little Kids Big Day Out is on the 5th October 2017 and I will be looking for volunteers next week.

We wish Bob Willis and Adrian Whiting a quick recovery.
Thank you to the members who help promote the Gears & Beer Festival at the Lake to Lake on Sunday.
Well done to the Help Cambodia Team for a great night at the Magpie Nest Restaurant last Friday.
Please keep Past President Geoff Hamilton in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for your support. Have a great week!

Secretary's Report 14th Sept
Next Sprout and About Market 14th October.
Please check the roster and advise your availability or otherwise in good time and confirm with me and your OIC.

The Rotaract Ten Pin Bowling Challenge is to be held on Saturday 23rd September. Teams of three are required. I will be calling for numbers next week. They are good fun nights and our Partners and children are welcome. It would be good if we could feild at least three teams of three and show our support for the Rotaractors.

Next Board meeting is Monday 18th September, 5.30pm at The Commercial Club.

Sprout and About.
Neil Pinto was the OIC last Saturday, and his management style was different - control with the camera.

A large contingent of the team gathered around the BBQ, and investigated the configuration of the tablecloths, their shape, size, dimensions and frictional qualities relevant to the trestle tops. This was serious analysis of a long term problem. The OIC recorded, photographically, that this workshop had actually occurred, and labelled the evidence: "How many Rotarians does it take to change a tablecloth." Scandalous behaviour.
During the packup, equipment was being loaded onto trailers, this process being akin to slalom Skiing, when there was a close call with a magnolia. Rather than have all and sundry race in and become a rabble, one member sat back and provided considered supervision.

Congratulations to Jim Gibson who resisted the urge to be part of the mob, and ensured that trailer and tree were separated with great diligence. We have photographic evidence of this role.

Stall collections on the Day - rent and insurance - amounted to $710, the gate contributed $303.90, and BBQ profit was $229.90. After paying the musicians ($150), there was $1093.80 banked.
The market started slowly, had a burst of activity between 10am and midday, five stalls booked but failed to show, and by container closing time, the sun was pleasant.

The team on the day was: Neil Pinto, Tim Barter, John Gary, Paul Murray, Jonty Schuter, Wal Paton, Michael Knight, Pat Ingram, Jim Gibson, Jeremy Reithmuller, Bob Willis, Tim McMullen

Sprout and About committee chairman, John Smith, has been promoting the market to the populace of Wagga Wagga, raising awareness by placing signs at strategic locations around the city. The future of this initiative is under a cloud, as a higher authority has chosen to indulge in tactics similar to the children's game, "Hide and Seek." We will keep you informed.

Mark Hillis has also had some experience with this authority. Members at the meeting will not easily forget his experience in the 8 x 110 metres hurdles.
Sergeant Neil
Continuing a rambling monologue at the conclusion of the Sprout and About report, Neil assumed three stripes, and appointed the rostered sergeant to carry the box.

Market activities were dealt with first.
Those that were involved in catering on Saturday faced fines, ostensibly for incompetence in applying linen to the serving surfaces of market equipment. Please refer to the Sprout and About report for a more accurate description  of this event.

If military efficiency was measured by time allocated to extract a fine, measured alongside the return achieved, taking into account the technology applied to the extraction, then fining Jim Gibson for supervising the rescue of a Magnolia was a Pyrrhic occurrence.
Fear of being typecast as a catering specialist motivated Michael Knight to decline an invitation to join the cooks. He was quoted verbatim by the Sergeant.

Bragging is not a great human trait, but wrapping it up as a fine enabled Neil to tell us all about his moment of glory - winning at the Eistoddfod. The Wagga Wagga City Rugby Big Band, with Sax, Trumpet and Clarinet representing Wollundry, beat a bunch of kids!!!!!

Paul Murray failed to introduce his guest.
Richmond supporters are coming out of the woodwork.
Ken Taylor turned up today.........sans cake.
Paul Murray donated a rock, to frustrate our food and wine festival.
Tim Barter bought provisions for intimate dinner at Sprout and About - including Brussels Sprouts.

What do these guys have in common ............They are all Richmond supporters. They have never owned up to that before.
District Conference 2018
Gerry Gerlach addressed the club, not with a "thought of the day," but to remind the members that the next District 9700 Conference will be staged in Leeton, on the weekend of May 4, 5, and 6, 2018. This will be five weeks after our Food and Wine Festival.
Accomodation has been booked at the Leeton Heritage Motor Inn, six rooms at this stage, but we can still get more as required!!!!!!
There are preliminary discussions to have Wollundry Rotary provide a presentation on staging major festivals on the scale of Food and Wine, or Gears and Beers. Do we want to give away secrets??

Laptops Wanted For Gears and Beers
We would like to borrow some laptops.  We are planning on setting up a bank of computers to quickly and efficiently process all the riders for the Gears and Beers.  We need approximately 10 laptops.

The laptops need to be running a version of Windows and have Excel software on them.  Also a mouse would be good.

We only need them on Saturday and Sunday, however we would like to borrow them from Friday till Monday.  If you would be willing to loan us your laptop, please call or email Paul Murray (Ph: 6928 5562  Mobile: 0408 285 562  email: grampamurray@gmail.com).  We promise to be very careful with them,  Many thanks.
Towards the Bottom
 Submitted by a member:..........of the men's shed.

I called an old school friend and asked what was he doing.

He replied that he was working on "Aqua-thermal treatment of ceramics, aluminium
and steel under a constrained environment.”

I was impressed.

On further inquiring, I learned that he was washing dishes with hot water ...
under his wife's supervision.
