Presidents Report Oct 24th
Today we welcome into our club a new member Andrew Puckeridge. Once again another full meeting squeezed into one hour.
Our guest speaker Clive Murphy was interesting and had us looking at depression and anxiety in  a very different way. Thank you to all the members who help complete the Fusion 17 Festival community project. Your support was great.
Don't forget the photo shoot this Wednesday at 12.30 pm out the front of the Council Chambers. Domestic Violence Awareness Project.
Food & Wine Festival committee have hit the ground running and have already completed items on their check list. The date of Food & Wine is 24th March 2018. Pencil the date in your diary!
We have also joined Murrumbidgee Rotary Club with their tree planting project in March/April 2018. More details to come.

Don't forget Men's Health Education Rural Van is coming to Wagga on 14th & 15th November from District 9670. John Egan is looking for members to man the van on those two special days. More details to come.
Don't forget next week's meeting is a Vocational visit to Riverina Water. An email will come out in the next couple of days with all the necessary information.

Thank you for your support. Have a great week!

READ YOUR BULLETIN ONLINE
Again we have embedded videos, which your email program may not be able to display.  To ensure that you see everything in the bulletin, I would advise all members to read the bulletin online.  To read the bulletin online, just click on the sentence that appears above the bulletin banner.  The link that starts with the question... "Having trouble viewing this email.?.." and then it gives you the online link..."click here to view online" .  Click on that link, above the banner, and you will see the best possible version of the bulletin.
Cheers,    Paul

New Member Inducted
Andrew Puckeridge is the newest member of our Club. He was introduced to the Club by Mark Hillis and inducted by President Paul. Mark has the classification of Restaurant- fast food and has been appointed to the Gears and Beers Committee. It appears he is fond of green apples!
Guest Speaker
Guest Speaker
Clive Murphy seen above with President Paul was today's guest speaker.

Clive was introduced by Richard Rossiter who told us that Clive is the principal of the Clive Murphy Self Empowerment Centre located in Baylis st Wagga. He is married to Julie and has three children. Clive is the author of two books on self development.

The development of Clive's belief and teachings began with his own personal journey of broken relationships and dissatisfaction with his progress in life. At the age of 33 Clive told us that he ended up in Hospital after a high speed accident and he realised that he had reached rock bottom. He decided that he could not continue with the way he had been living and began to read about the power of the mind to change things.

He came to realise that the mind is so powerful it "can do us in" as well as lift us up if we use it in the opposite way.

Clive pointed out that Australia has a high rate of suicide. 89 in every 1000 Australians take anti-depressants, compared to 12 in USA and 2 in Korea. By making the right choices Clive believes we can address these issues. To get happy chemicals you need to think happy thoughts. He feels that generally people have low self esteem and so are not resilient if they face criticism. Clive theorises that we take negativity with us when we try to move away from it though escapism rather than address the issues in our life.

By focusing on having a destination i.e. a purpose, by focusing on peaceful relationships, on quality of life Clive believes we can move away from our negative and destructive thinking.

Clive answered questions on suicide, parenting and the influence of materialism and technology.

President Paul thanked Clive for coming to speak to our club and asked members to show their appreciation with applause.

Our Meeting October 24th
Sergeant Peter Clucas
Sergeant Peter invited Phil McIntosh and Tim Barter to carry the box because (allegedly) they knew cycling terminology. Peter then asked various tables cycling questions like What is a bonk? What is a sticky bottle? What is tanked? Of course no-one knew the answers let alone the two cycling experts. Peter then abandoned this quiz and fined all Richmond supporters and his best friends who travelled to Melbourne with him to visit Geoff Hamilton. They had a good day with Geoff who is battling leukemia and passed on the best wishes of the club.

Rotary Information
Rick Priest repeated his questioning style of Rotary Information. This time Phil McIntosh correctly answered that there are six Rotary Clubs in Wagga viz; Wagga, South Wagga, Kooringal, Wollundry, Sunrise and Murumbidgee.
Pat Ingram was able to correctly answer that our Club Wollundry was chartered in 1978.
John Smith was asked what is the number of our club. Only Paul Murray knew that we are club number 18,121.

Food and Wine
Laurie Blowes reminded committee members of the meeting on Wednesday night. He is also encouraging more members to complete the Responsible Serving of Alchohol education program. He wants members who do, to be willing to work longish hours at the food and wine festival. Members who wish to do the course should contact Laurie. Laurie is also looking for a volunteer who is willing to do some hack work for the food and wine festival- obtaining forms, completeing applications etc.

Men's Health
John Egan wants 6 volunteers to assist with managing the MHERV van which will be stationed at Bunnings on 14th and 15th November.
He is also looking for a couple of volunteers to go to Narrandera to collect the van and put it at Bunnings. The idea of the van is to encourage men to come in for a blood and urine test which will give some basic indicators that might require referral to their GP.
