President Geoff took his last formal meeting today, welcoming back Craig Bromley who has been tripping around Australia and has come home to greet two new grandchildren who are arriving very soon.
He also took great delight in inducting our newest member, Tim McMullen.
Tim operates the Borambola Winery and comes to us with the classification Wine Maker.
The club were very happy to have Tim join us as he has had a long history of supporting our ventures.
Kat is leaving us very soon, and there will be a farewell party for her on July 8th. More details soon.
As President Geoff mentioned in his section, Col Mercer who was a member until very recently has broken his leg and is housebound. Give him a call on 0448400214. He lives at 60 Brooklyn.
The Club also recognised the excellent service of Tianne from the Commercial Club. As President Geoff said, it is no mean feat to get the meals out to us so quickly and efficiently, and we really do appreciate that effort.
Today was a Club Assembly, dedicated mainly to an explanation of our Club Budget for next year.
David Pyke as Club Treasurer outlined the future spending for us, and fielded several questions.
The Pie Charts that he produced showed fairly clearly where the Club stood, and consequently it was passed by the assembled. There were several questions concerning the provision for Community Service should our income stream falter and these were answered in satisfactory mode.
Hugh Campbell announced the last donations for this year.
We have put up a scholarship for the Australian Rotary Health Indigenous Scholarship, Anglicare received $3000 for their winter appeal, Ronald McDonald House $3000,Country Hope $3000, and the Bimbi PreSchool was awarded $500. The club also gave $2000 to the Fort McMurray FireFighters in Canmor, Canada. Finally, The Mens Shed in Wagga will receive $2470 for new equipment.
A grand total in the one day of $17220. Not a bad result.
Laurie Blowes stood in as sergeant for Mark Hillis who was flat out in his caravan business.
Sports men, be they cricketers or footy fans all went down. Craig Bromley was fined because he came back, Wal Paton for not looking at the “planes for sale’ in the classifieds, Tim McMullen because he would be next week anyway, Benny because of a closet phone call, and Kat rounded on John Hawkins for an “inappropriate” remark.
