President Paul welcomed guests and members with a toast to the queen. Peter Clucas reported he had met with Mark Hillis who was recovering well in hospital but still very uncomfortable from his surgery. Mark was very appreciative of the well wishes from the club and is looking forward to getting back to wagga in a week or so. Peter Crozier met Geoff Hamilton in Melbourne who is progressing with his treatment and looking forward to getting back to Tassie in July. President Paul reminded us it is time for the winter appeals from the salvation army and other charitable groups and organised a small donation from the club. Sergeant Geoff Breust Geoff reeled of a list of imponderables that left us all pondering..... and then slugged us. Rotary Information Paul Milde stood in and gave us some extra reading this week with some articles from Rotary Down Under on changes Rotary International is implementing - particularly updating our mission as members of the worldwide fellowship of rotarians striving for a better world. Rotary Projects David Byfield presented the following donations for approval by the club Lillier Lodge $10,000 to replace the airconditioners. Abbyfield $10,000 contribution towards building 6 units for young adults with disability. Bidgee School $5000 for training assistance dogs who partner with kids with disability. Football for All $1000 for providing inclusive games for kids with disability. Ashmont Preschool $1500 to replace a gate. The approval motion was proposed by Geoff Breust and seconded by Gerry Gerlach and approved unanimously. New Member Induction - Stewart Herriot Stewart was given a warm introduction to the club by cousin James Ross. Stewart is a long time farmer from the Holbrook district who has recently moved to Wagga to retire. Stewart is keen to participate in our Rotary projects and learn more about Rotaries worldwide mission. Exchange Student Bianca Lubke Bianca is a TRAC student doing year nine this year. She is looking forward to getting outside her comfort zone on her overseas exchange in January 2019. |
