PRESIDENT’S REPORT FOR 31TH JULY 2018
We welcome Irene our exchange student from Taiwan on Monday. Thank you to those club members and Carolyn and Sally greeting Irene at the Wagga Airport.
 
Neil Pinto is compiling a roster of members to assist host families in entertaining Irene during the 12 months she is in Australia.
 
Thank you to Andrew & sally for being the 1st host family for Irene. Thank you to Carolyn Murray for being Irene’s counsellor.
 
District Treasurer Doug Conkey passed onto our club treasurer a cheque for the two successful district grants Days for Girls and Beds for Battambang.
 
Thank you letters received from The Forrest Centre for the $40,000 donation and Abby Murray a recipient of a Noel Barnes Scholarship.

Financial Counselling
Nick gave an interesting insight into the ways people in financial difficulties can be assisted to work through their particular situation. Nick works with Wagga Wagga Family Support and his services a free and privacy is always respected. Nick covered a raft of ways he is able to assist, including
Budgeting, Payment plans, negotiating with creditors, waiving of debts, early access to super funds
and bankruptcy assistance. The funding for Nicks work comes from a levee on all gambling receipts in NSW, and he is one of several counsellors in Wagga.
Nick works with many local organisations including Legal Aid, Centrelink, NSW Ombudsman,
major banks, Mission Australia and local schools.
Irene Chung -Our New Exchange Student
Monday afternoon July 30th , Irene Chung, our new exchange student from Taiwan, arrived at the airport and was greeted by Darren Wallace, Paul and Carolyn Murray, Neil Pinto and Wollundry President James Hamilton.  Also at the airport to greet Irene were Sally and Andrew Puckeridge her first host parents.

Her friendly face will be missed behind the bar!
