No Guest Speaker today, as today was a Hillis Day. In typical Hillis Day manner there was plenty of time to talk among the members on the tables. but there were some very important announcement and updates. President David needs five people at the show ground on Friday morning 8am to sort through the panelling. PP Paul Milde announced our turn at Lillier Lodge is coming up next Wednesday, and called for volunteer chefs. A very brave David Benn volunteered Sherie's cooking without consulation, and severall others put up their hand to assist. It is now pretty well subscribed. Phil Mcintosh gave us an update on the progress of the Gears and Beers, announcing our very own brew would be ready, known as Dead Camel Larger. We have 1800 riders likely to attend, which is an amazing effort. It will bring huge benefit to the town and the community. South Wagga Pharmacy has given us 25 first aid kits for the cars and motorbikes. Gratefully received. We have some world renowned biking personalities vying to be part of the event which will make our event even stronger, as these people in the media will continue to sing the praises of Wagga long after the event. A wonderful effort , Phil and the support given by the committee. Bob Willis announced that he had some Centurion money boxes ready, and promptly handed two over. Another project well supported! Several members had fond memories of Tim Fischer. Pykie had a bet with him about the venue for the AFL Grand Finals venue. It was to range over ten years. Sure enough ten years to the day Tim rang to claim his prize. A phenomenal recall. John Gray saw him at the Ardlethan Picnic Races, just after he had been elected Deputy Prime Minister. And that was 4 weeks after the election. Mayor and PP Greg Conkey gave us an impromptu report on Council happenings. Seems we are not crows after all! "Wagga" is a meeting place. The levee question was raised, and the North Wagga Lake also. It is an on going controversy, and apparently surrounded by a deal of obsfucation!! The Markets meeting is Tuesday at 5.30pm, at the Commercial Club |
