President James opened the meeting with Rotary Grace, and proceeded to welcome our visitors,
Irene Chang, our exchange student with host mother Sally Puckeridge. and David Post.
(David was introduced by David Benn who stated that he hoped he didn't want to do that again!)

He congratulated Ric Priest on his ten years with the Wagga Mens Shed. Ric graciously accepted the accolade, but went to some trouble to thank the club for its support, and to thank John Ireland and John Mason for their professional help, along with Colin Duff who presented the group with a complete shed.

Today was Hillis Fellowship Day, so we had no guest speaker.

The talk came around to the drought, inspired by a letter from DG John Glassford. Rotary has partnered with Channel 9 and has set a target of $10m.
A question from the floor as to how the funds were to be distributed promoted quite a bit of discussion. While being very sympathetic to the plight, it was suggested that subsidies reward bad management practices. Not that there should be no help given, but it should be targeted.

In response to this comment, Stuart Heriot suggested that we as a club might put on a "family fun day". The advantage of this is that it encourages men in particular to mix away from their properties." A problem shared is a problem halved"
President James will take back our suggestions to DG John.

The new branding for the Wollundry Saturday Market was displayed during the meeting. It is elegantly simple. A great job!
